shake shack.

There's something inherently romantic about New York. It's probably idealized. It's probably a lot of hype. Right? Why is it that so many bloggers have an obsession with the place?

Either way, it's definitely on my travel bucket list. Although, I can't decide if I would rather visit in the fall, when it's turning crisp and cold and Christmas, or in the late spring, when it's turning warm and coming alive.

My sister is completely obsessed with the place. I think she would live there if she could. When she lived briefly in Boston, she got a taste for the East Coast and also visited her beloved city. In both cities, she had the blessed chance to go to Shake Shack. And she raved.

So, when a Shake Shack opened up in our very own Scottsdale, Arizona, we had to make a visit. I tried to pretend I was in New York, which wasn't too hard, since Scottsdale is like another world. (Ha. Ha.)

When you go to Scottsdale, you wear your cutest outfit and you do your hair and makeup. It's just what you do, especially if you don't want to stick out like a sore thumb. Ironically enough, I wore red, so is that cliche invalid? Either way, I also dressed the boys in....clothes without stains (mostly) and made Jake wear shoes that didn't clash with his shorts. I don't even care how shallow this paragraph sounds, because it's just the honest truth. Besides, dressing up for going out never hurt anyone.

^^Major will often pick up random objects like remotes, and hold them to his ear like a phone. The buzzer worked well for this. He was a bit confused when it went off though!
^^See? We even had a piece of NY there with us!
^^That boy's smile can light up a room.

^^The verdict? Well....I've heard Shake Shack referred to as the In-N-Out of the East Coast. Accurate for describing the menu to a point.'s like elevated. The meat was so tasty on its own. The bun was perfectly toasted. Just really great flavor. I could write a love letter to this burger. Simple, but delicious. Didn't ask for attention....a natural beauty. I'll stop now.

^^Fries are my jam. If we are comparing them to In-N-Out fries, these blow those out of the water. I don't like skimpy little fries, and they aren't little. However, they are a bit pricey. I would say the prices are a little less than double In-N-Out prices.
^^This is his latest favorite stink face/cheesy grin. Grab a mop, because it melts me into a puddle every time.

^^My sister got this choc/PB shake. It was really good! Next time, I think I will just get a concrete though. If you're going to have custard, you might as well have it straight because that creamy texture is what its allll about! (I worked at a custard place in HS, so I'm a bit of a snob about these things.)

^^We ran around the Scottsdale Fashion Square after our meal. And by ran I mean walked. That place is huge! I logged like 4,000 steps there alone.

^^They have the cutest play area, but unfortunately its tucked away in a corner on the far end (right next to Nordstrom though!).

^^ "Mom, watch me jump!"

^^This guy conked out not even 5 minutes into the drive home. He was worn. out.
^^I wish he had conked out, too.

All in all, it was a fun little trip! I will have to do my due diligence as a wife and return for date night with TJ, soon, since burgers are his latest favorite food. And he will have to do his due diligence someday and take me to NY for real.
