Well, my mom has been asking for pictures of the beautiful fall colors, because Mesa kinda skips fall. So, here are some pictures from the hike the YSAs went on a couple of weeks ago. It was freezing cold and the wind was merciless. As you'll see in some pics, there was a light dusting of snow on top of the Peaks.
This is what I saw when I woke up that Saturday morning:
Aubree attempting to keep her face warm:
Trail of gold:
These next two are just from around the neighborhood:
Just a quick side note. I absolutely love Aspen trees. Their white bark contrasted by dark "eyes" and cheerful yellow and green leaves are a beautiful picture. And the sound they make when the wind rustles the dry leaves sounds like small applause. I heard this after a long day and the tree seemed to be saying, "You can do it! Yay for another day done!" [wow that was cheesy!] I also love the pines. They smell so wonderful and just lift me when I ponder their beauty. The sound of wind rushing through pines has got to be one of my favorite sounds in the world! It's so powerful and soothing. The sky here is also amazing! It is so clear blue and the clouds so close and white and big. I even decided that I like the sun. The way it filters through the trees and bursts around clouds is truly awe-inspiring. And at night, a billion stars greet me, each so bright and so glorious it fills me with wonder. I echo the words of Hymn #86:
"O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy pow'r thru-out the universe displayed;
"When thru the woods and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze,
"Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee,
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee,
How great thou art! How great thou art!"
